AKTA DIG FÖR LJUSET / BEWARE OF THE LIGHT

In September 2006 I was staying at the Villa San Michele in Capri, Italy, and worked on the project. The title is a quote from the Axel Munthe's book "The Story of San Michele". When I read the book for the first time I reacted to the quote, because the light is essential for a photographer. The bright light on Capri destroyed gradually Axel Munthe's eyes and he left Capri for good in 1943, he died in Stockholm in 1949, at 91 years of age. I wanted to make pictures from a place Munthe loved, with the light that forced him to leave the island. I used Sunprint paper, a light-sensitive material that darken when exposed to sunlight.

I have mapped shadows in the garden of the Villa San Michele. The images are fragments from a place that is visited by thousands of tourists.
